Service Description

Yoga Nidra, or "yoking sleep," is an ancient meditation used by yogis for centuries. It allows us to enter non-REM cycle sleep in a state of wakefulness, accessing the body's natural ability for healing, rejuvenation, and somatic release. Yoga Nidra provides a way to enter into a Theta-Delta state with full-awareness in order to release with intentionality. In this state you have left the realm of time. This means you are able to quantify the speed of healing and experience rapid release in very gentle, somatic ways that would otherwise take much longer with cognitive therapy alone. Yoga Nidra meditation is similar to but distinctly different from hypnosis. Hypnosis works under the premise that we are controlled by our thoughts (the contents) and takes us into a state of suggestibility. Yoga Nidra works under the premise that we are not our thoughts, but rather the awareness beyond thoughts (the container) and takes us into a state of receptivity with our Essential Self. Through non-doing and deep relaxation we are able to be yoked, or fully integrated, and experience the bliss of dis-identification with thoughts. We are then primed to receive profound epiphanies and breakthroughs from our body's inherent wisdom. Yoga Nidra is about moving through and beyond the five koshas, or layers of embodiment: physical body, prana body, mind body, wisdom body and bliss body. It is then that you can experience a wide and seemingly endless list of benefits: restoring the nervous system, brain balancing, improved sleep, improved circulation, improved blood pressure, reduced stress, reduced emotional disturbance, profound joy, and more. Come wearing comfortable, relaxed clothing, including socks and a light sweater. You will be asked to lie down on a soft pad rolled out on the floor, supported by pillows and bolsters. Each session typically includes: initial interview, gentle stretching and/or asana, guided breath practice, visualization, verbal prompts, and debrief. Each session runs between 90 minutes and 2 hours. NOTE: You can experience wonderful breakthroughs with a single session, but a minimum of 3-6 sessions are recommended in order to experience a more complete process. You can receive a discount by selecting the pricing plan to bundle 3 sessions.
