Welcome to Bhava Birth
Birth & Postpartum Doula Trainings

Find the skills and community you need for heart-led mindfulness-based birth work!

Q: There are so many doula trainings out there. How can I know which one is best for me?

1. Do you see birth as a sacred rite of passage?

2. Do you want to help your clients emotionally and spiritually, not just informationally? Do you value incorporating mindfulness, breath, and ritual into your birth work?

3. Would you value monthly mentoring after the training and being part of an on-going doula community, not just a one-weekend crash course?

4. Would you benefit from having lots of one-on-one time with your doula trainer, especially after the training for processing your first few birth experiences?

Then you've come to the right place!

Q: Is this a "training" or a "certification" path to doula work?

Either one! Here's what you need to know:

1. You can simply attend the training and leave a trained Doula. Or you have the option of fulfilling certain course requirements to certify.

2. Clients rarely, if ever, ask whether a doula is trained versus certified. However, sometimes hospitals or insurance companies stipulate "certified" should you choose to seek reimbursement through some of their newly available programs.

3. At Bhava Birth, your doula community belongs to YOU and is included in your one-time tuition. There are no annual fees for certification renewal and no required continuing education credits to maintain your status.

Q: What is mindfulness and what place does it have in birth and postpartum work?

Mindfulness is a mindset and process of self-awareness that can improve birth outcomes, increase maternal satisfaction, invite clarity and healing, and foster empowerment for your future clients. This way of preparing for birth allows all birthing individuals to experience birth as a rite of passage regardless of outcomes.

In the postpartum sphere, mindfulness and the foundations of yoga provide an entirely new vocabulary and skillset when engaging with depression, anxiety, and overwhelm. Rather than being victimized by the unraveling of identity that can occur postpartum, mindfulness and yoga give purpose to the process.

But here's the other huge benefit: mindfulness benefits YOU and makes doula work more sustainable long-term! Too many doulas burn out in the first year of practice. You deserve a well-rounded training that will prepare you for the full experience of birth work.
